Studio Policies

PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT

  • Parents are not allowed in the class room to watch their child dance. We have viewing windows in each room to serve this purpose.
  • Please keep an eye on your children that are waiting in the lobby with you. Every once in a while we may have someone tapping on the window to the class room, or being very loud in the hallway etc. These things easily distract the dancers.
  • Please do not allow your children to play in any of the dance rooms when they are not in use.
  • Please make sure your children clean up after themselves and take home everything they brought with them. We usually end up with a huge pile of lost and found. Due to this we will be getting rid of this accumulation at the end of each month. We don’t have the space to accommodate all this stuff, and it quickly makes the studio look sloppy.
  • As a courtesy to those who work hard to make you informed, please be sure to read through your monthly news letters. We have many people ask questions or miss important dates and information because they didn’t read the news letter.
  • Please remember not to wear street shoes on the dance floors.

STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT

  • Be on time to class and in proper attire
  • Be sure to clean up after yourself. Pick up dropped food, throw away garbage and take home all your stuff. We will be getting rid of all lost and found items at the end of each month, so take care of your stuff.
  • Keep your stuff neat in the lobby. Put everything in one of the white boxes. Taller people please use the higher boxes so shorter and younger people can reach a box too. If there are no available boxes, neatly put your stuff under a chair.
  • Students are not allowed to use dance rooms that are not being used, unless given permission from an instructor.
  • Students must be fully covered when coming to and from the studio. Please do not come and go from the studio in your leotard, you must have a shirt and pants on over your dance attire.
  • Students are not allowed to hang out behind the desk or in the office area. This space is set aside for office management and dance instructors.
  • While in the lobby, please keep conversations God honoring. Do not talk negatively about others, and be sure to keep your conversations appropriate for the ages that are listening to your words.
  • Be sure to show respect to your instructors by giving your full attention in class and following instructions.
  • While waiting to take class, please be sure to be quiet in the hallways and near the dance classes where it is easy to disrupt classes and cause interruptions.

TUITION

Tuition and other payments will be done through auto pay at the beginning of each month. There will be a total of 9 payments that start in September and go through May. The payments will include any outstanding balances including, but not limited to, tuition, competition fees, costumes, dancewear, performance fees, and pictures and DVDs. If you prefer to pay through cash or check it must be paid before the beginning of each month.

ATTENDANCE

Students are always being taught new material and working on progressing in their technique. September through December is when students are learning all the material for the level of dance they are in. Coming every week to class is essential to learning new steps and learning how to apply proper dance technique to these new steps. When students miss class it slows down their progression.

From January to June students continue to perfect everything they have already learned and they begin to learn their recital dance. Not only does missing class during this time also impede their growth as dancers, but it also makes it difficult to learn their dance and have time to perfect it.

Missing classes during this time does not only effect the absent student, but also the other students and the instructor who are all depending on them to know their dance and look good doing it.

STUDIO CLOSINGS

The studio follows the Huron Valley Calendar for Major Holiday closings.

For inclement weather, however, do not follow the school closings. Instead call the studio after 1 p.m. to find out if it is closed or open. Many times when schools are closed it is because of bad weather conditions early in the morning. These conditions often clear up by the afternoon.

On the other hand if schools have not been closed, but weather conditions are growing worse toward late afternoon hours, be sure to call the studio to see if the studio remains open or has closed due to weather conditions.

PRIVATE CONSULTATIONS

Every once in a while a student or a parent may have questions or concerns that cannot be easily handled at the front desk, or through email. This would be a good time to request a private consultation with one of the owners.

Sometimes students are having a hard time adjusting to a teacher, or are wondering why they are not advancing to a new level in their training etc. Other times it may be the parent with these or other concerns. In either case, these are questions that probably need some one on one (or two) attention.

A consultation can be requested at the front desk or through email at mmdcodance@yahoo.com

SAFETY

Below is a list of some things that will help keep our students safe.

  • Never leave young children unattended at the dance studio
  • When waiting to be picked up, always wait from inside the studio
  • If a student wants to walk next door for food, always take a buddy
  • Do not hang out outside the building even if with a buddy
  • All students must be fully clothed when coming to and from the dance studio. Do not walk outside in your leotard and tights

ADDING/DROPPING CLASSES

  • Anyone who drops a class will not be reimbursed for that month. If you drop a class, it is advised to do so at the end of the month, before tuition is due, to continue another month of classes
  • Anyone wanting to add a class during the year, must receive permission from the faculty to do so.
